Craft beer, bespoke chocolate, and decadent waffles!
As an avid traveler and foodie, I have always been fascinated by Belgium. A country known for its exquisite chocolate, delicious beer, and warm hospitality, it was high on my travel bucket list. Finally, I got the chance to visit Belgium and experience everything it had to offer. From the moment I landed, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable trip. Here is a rundown of my first time in Belgium, the delicious food, warm hospitality, and fun facts about the city.
Let’s start with the most important thing about Belgium – chocolate. As soon as I landed in Brussels, I headed straight to a chocolate shop. I was blown away by the variety of chocolates and flavors available. The chocolate was rich, creamy, and had a smooth texture that just melts in your mouth. I couldn’t resist buying a few boxes to bring back home. Later, I learned that Belgium produces about 220,000 tons of chocolate each year, making it the chocolate capital of the world.
After chocolate, beer was the next thing on my list. Belgium is home to over 1500 types of beer, and it is an essential part of the country’s culture and heritage. I visited the famous Delirium Café, where I had the chance to taste a few of Belgium’s finest. The beer was stronger than anything I had tried before, and it was paired with cheese and sausages, which made it the perfect snack. Belgium beer is famous for being made with natural ingredients, and every beer has a unique flavor. It is no wonder why Belgium is one of the leading producers of craft beer globally.
One thing that stands out about Belgium is its hospitality. The people are friendly, helpful, and always willing to make visitors feel at home. Restaurant staff, hotel personnel, and even strangers on the street went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and comfortable. This experience was in contrast to some of my earlier travels, where locals were less accommodating to tourists. Belgium has a unique approach to hospitality that makes visitors want to go back time and time again.
Belgium is also home to some of the most picturesque cities in Europe. I visited Bruges, a charming medieval city with canals running through the city, adding to its beauty. The city was like something out of a fairy tale, with its Gothic architecture, and cobbled streets. In Bruges, I had Belgian cuisine, which is a heavenly experience. The country is known for its fries, waffles, and mussels, which were all mouth-watering. The cuisine is so famous that many Belgian restaurants have their culinary school to maintain authenticity.
All in All, my first time in Belgium was unforgettable. From rich and creamy chocolate, exquisite beer, and fantastic food to the incredibly hospitable locals and picturesque cities, it was an experience I will always cherish. Belgium is a destination for everyone, from foodies to history buffs, and anyone looking to experience a unique culture. I would highly recommend visiting Belgium and experiencing all that it has to offer. I know I can’t wait to go back.
