A Taste of Islay
Our home is a breathtaking and rugged island cast adrift off the West Coast of Scotland. Islay (pronounced "eye-la") lies more westerly than Land’s End and further south than Edinburgh or Glasgow. In winter, Atlantic storms can isolate the island, sweeping ferries off course and forcing back aircraft. In spring, the island becomes a garden warmed by the Gulf Stream. Laphroaig 10 Year Old is the original Laphroaig, distilled following traditions laid down by Ian Hunter over 75 years ago.
Laphroaig 10 Year Old Islay Scotch Whisky
In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour. Those enjoying the 10 Year Old will first notice the bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish.

Ingredients
2 parts Teacher’s Blended Scotch Whisky
0.75 part Lemon Juice
0.75 part Honey Syrup
3 pieces Fresh Ginger, Sliced
0.25 parts Laphroaig 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Candied Ginger
Preparation
Combine Teacher's Whiskey, lemon juice, honey syrup, and ginger; Shake with ice.
Serve in a rocks glass with one large ice cube; Add floater of Laphroaig Whisky and a candied ginger garnish.
